Copy my sounds

When your child makes a sound, whether it's a coo, gurgle, or squeal, repeat it back to them. Wait to see if they make the sound again. When they do, copy them once more. You can also start by making a simple sound and waiting to see if your child tries to copy you. This creates a conversation where you take turns being the leader and the follower.

இது ஏன் வேலை செய்கிறது
This vocal turn-taking builds the foundation for all future communication and social exchange. Research shows that social skills are an important predictor of children's ability to learn to read, with poor social skills in early grades leading to literacy struggles (McClelland et al., 2013). These early sound exchanges teach your child the fundamental structure of conversation: I speak, you listen and respond, then you speak, and I respond.
பெற்றோருக்கான உதவிக்குறிப்புகள்
Pick times when your child is alert and happy, like after a nap or during play time.
Don't worry if your child doesn't copy you right away. Just responding to their sounds matters.
Variety helps. Try different sounds like clicks, hums, or silly noises to keep it interesting.
